1
00:00:15.255 --> 00:00:18.485
Hello, welcome back to the final session of Tales Toolkit.

2
00:00:19.185 --> 00:00:22.565
You've been introduced to the three principles, which are

3
00:00:23.155 --> 00:00:26.125
safe, space child-led, and fun.

4
00:00:27.025 --> 00:00:29.525
You know how to use all of the resources

5
00:00:29.825 --> 00:00:30.885
and you've been creating

6
00:00:31.145 --> 00:00:32.445
and recording lots

7
00:00:32.445 --> 00:00:34.485
of imaginative stories with your children.

8
00:00:35.235 --> 00:00:38.565
Today's session is time to reflect, to look back at

9
00:00:38.585 --> 00:00:41.645
how you've been doing, think of some next steps,

10
00:00:42.065 --> 00:00:45.565
and also to give yourself a great big pat on the back

11
00:00:45.865 --> 00:00:49.125
for all the fantastic creative storytelling

12
00:00:49.125 --> 00:00:50.485
you've been doing with your children.

13
00:00:51.205 --> 00:00:52.325
Teaching is a tough job

14
00:00:52.505 --> 00:00:54.645
and you don't celebrate the achievements enough.

15
00:00:55.185 --> 00:00:56.805
You are doing an amazing job.

16
00:00:57.185 --> 00:01:01.445
So the theme of today's session is, look how great we are.

17
00:01:01.865 --> 00:01:03.805
I'm not going to be talking as much today.

18
00:01:04.315 --> 00:01:07.365
Instead, you are going to have time to reflect on

19
00:01:07.385 --> 00:01:09.005
how it's been going with Tell's Toolkit.

20
00:01:09.545 --> 00:01:11.365
And at the end of the session, all

21
00:01:11.365 --> 00:01:15.565
of the notes can be collected to create one report with lots

22
00:01:15.565 --> 00:01:18.725
of information about the fantastic job you're doing.

23
00:01:19.225 --> 00:01:20.365
But before we get going,

24
00:01:20.575 --> 00:01:24.525
let's have a quick talk about progress you've been using.

25
00:01:24.745 --> 00:01:26.805
Tell's toolkit across your provision,

26
00:01:27.765 --> 00:01:29.245
collaboratively telling stories,

27
00:01:29.825 --> 00:01:33.045
but also setting children up using the Tell's toolkit

28
00:01:33.445 --> 00:01:36.765
structure independently to create stories

29
00:01:37.065 --> 00:01:38.965
and solve real life problems.

30
00:01:39.515 --> 00:01:42.405
Through that interest of these particular children

31
00:01:42.915 --> 00:01:45.965
playing in boxes, being pirates, they would then say, right,

32
00:01:46.195 --> 00:01:47.285
okay, well there's a problem.

33
00:01:47.795 --> 00:01:50.205
There's a problem. What can we do?

34
00:01:50.205 --> 00:01:51.845
And the other little ones would say, well,

35
00:01:51.845 --> 00:01:53.205
let's find a solution.

36
00:01:53.675 --> 00:01:58.045
They never had this concept before of through a problem.

37
00:01:58.375 --> 00:01:59.965
There would always be a solution,

38
00:02:00.705 --> 00:02:02.605
and that that was through Tell Toolkit.

39
00:02:02.865 --> 00:02:05.045
So that was amazing to see

40
00:02:05.235 --> 00:02:07.485
that they're getting the concept now of no matter

41
00:02:08.435 --> 00:02:09.965
what you face in life or,

42
00:02:09.965 --> 00:02:13.805
or what problems are ahead, let's find something to,

43
00:02:13.855 --> 00:02:14.925
let's find a solution.

44
00:02:14.925 --> 00:02:17.245
Let's find out how we can sort this out.

45
00:02:18.105 --> 00:02:19.965
You want to show off the big picture

46
00:02:20.265 --> 00:02:21.845
for people visiting your school

47
00:02:22.385 --> 00:02:25.965
and let others see your children as creative problem solvers

48
00:02:26.025 --> 00:02:27.285
and independent thinkers.

49
00:02:27.715 --> 00:02:28.685
This shouldn't add to your,

50
00:02:38.425 --> 00:02:41.485
In today's session, you've reflected on your practice

51
00:02:41.945 --> 00:02:45.605
and created a few next steps so you can continue to improve

52
00:02:46.105 --> 00:02:48.525
and you've thought about how you can communicate

53
00:02:48.525 --> 00:02:51.125
with others, thinking about what you might discuss.

54
00:02:52.045 --> 00:02:53.045
I just want to end

55
00:02:53.105 --> 00:02:57.285
by saying a big well done on getting this far Tells toolkit

56
00:02:57.545 --> 00:02:58.885
is really adaptable.

57
00:02:59.265 --> 00:03:02.685
And over time, I'm sure you're going to continue coming up

58
00:03:02.875 --> 00:03:05.925
with new creative ways of using the kit

59
00:03:05.985 --> 00:03:07.445
and improving your practice.

60
00:03:07.925 --> 00:03:10.765
A lot of today's session comes back to one thing,

61
00:03:11.335 --> 00:03:13.485
shout about the great things that you're doing.

62
00:03:14.225 --> 00:03:15.845
Say, look how great we are.

63
00:03:15.915 --> 00:03:18.525
Sometimes with all of the stresses of teaching

64
00:03:18.865 --> 00:03:21.525
and all the paperwork involved, you can forget

65
00:03:21.525 --> 00:03:23.125
what an amazing job you're doing.

66
00:03:23.665 --> 00:03:25.685
And I want to end by bringing you back

67
00:03:25.705 --> 00:03:27.605
to something I said in Session One.

68
00:03:28.305 --> 00:03:31.485
We have no idea what the future holds for your children,

69
00:03:32.105 --> 00:03:34.005
but we do know that children

70
00:03:34.185 --> 00:03:38.125
who are creative problem solvers have good communication

71
00:03:38.125 --> 00:03:41.365
skills and high levels of wellbeing are going

72
00:03:41.365 --> 00:03:44.085
to fare far better in an ever changing world.

73
00:03:44.665 --> 00:03:48.165
And I'm sure by now you'll have realized the potential

74
00:03:48.165 --> 00:03:51.125
that Tales Toolkit has to really make a difference.

75
00:03:51.665 --> 00:03:55.325
Tap into every area of development with the language,

76
00:03:55.395 --> 00:03:59.245
with the listening, the communicating, the personal social

77
00:03:59.265 --> 00:04:00.485
and emotional development.

78
00:04:02.255 --> 00:04:03.565
Maths comes into play

79
00:04:03.565 --> 00:04:06.525
because you've got positional language, you've got counting,

80
00:04:06.665 --> 00:04:07.845
you've got it.

81
00:04:07.905 --> 00:04:10.965
It taps into pretty much every other area of development

82
00:04:11.225 --> 00:04:13.205
and it, and it's really,

83
00:04:14.665 --> 00:04:18.045
you can make your own resources up, you can add,

84
00:04:18.305 --> 00:04:20.885
you could go with a child's interest, go with their,

85
00:04:21.375 --> 00:04:24.005
their favorite character you can go with.

86
00:04:24.545 --> 00:04:27.405
It really is about your individual unique child

87
00:04:27.585 --> 00:04:32.085
and just having fun through storytelling

88
00:04:32.265 --> 00:04:32.685
and play.

Nursery Group Story

Kate leads a group story with this nursery setting. As well as modelling for the children, Kate is also incorporating a variety of creative approaches. Using songs, actions and phonic sounds.

Under 3s Group Story

This group story with the littlest of people shows how they quickly grasp the story structure. This practitioner takes her time embedding the use of the symbols while keeping the children really engaged with voices, songs and actions.

Watch without activities

This video has the same content as the core training video but we've removed the timed activity sections for speedier viewing. This is designed to help practitioners refresh their knowledge.

If you are doing the training for the first time, we recommend watching the full length video together with your team. Team learning means you'll get the most out of the training experience - and it's more fun!

let's have a quick talk about progress you've been using.

25
00:01:24.745 --> 00:01:26.805
Tell's toolkit across your provision,

collaboratively telling stories,

They never had this concept before of through a problem.

and all the paperwork involved, you can forget

65
00:03:21.525 --> 00:03:23.125
what an amazing job you're doing.

66
00:03:23.665 --> 00:03:25.685
And I want to end by bringing you back

67
00:03:25.705 --> 00:03:27.605
to something I said in Session One.

Tap into every area of development with the language,

and emotional development.

78
00:04:02.255 --> 00:04:03.565
Maths comes into play

79
00:04:03.565 --> 00:04:06.525
because you've got positional language, you've got counting,

80
00:04:06.665 --> 00:04:07.845
you've got it.

81
00:04:07.905 --> 00:04:10.965
