Do you have any pets you could include in stories? Make a box and sit them inside, print off the character symbol and stick it on the front.

Do you have any families that could bring in pets to feature in stories? And minibeasts you find in the garden are always a great shout for characters.

Don't forget to leave lots of photos out afterwards for the children to mark make their own stories.
